Project: Kegge Garnalenhandel BV

Kegge Garnalenhandel BV, a subsidiary within the Cornelis Vrolijk family, is a specialist in North Sea shrimp. This is cooked after the catch and peeled mechanically after landing in the Netherlands. Within a few days after the catch, these shrimps are on the shelf.

Here we were commissioned by 'Van Vliet Bouwmanagement B.V.' to perform various works to improve the efficiency of their production lines.

Distribution system for nitrogen, carbon dioxide and compressed air
An important aspect of this project was the integration of distribution systems for nitrogen, carbon dioxide and compressed air. These are an essential part of shrimp packaging to extend shelf life and ensure quality, among other things.

Piping above and below the cold rooms
A challenge with this project was the use of Transair piping above the cold rooms; it was installed above the ceiling. Different colors of piping were used to facilitate recognition of the different gases. This color coding allows employees to quickly and easily identify which gas flows in which pipe.

Stainless steel (SS) piping was chosen to be installed under the cold rooms. The stainless steel piping was installed according to HACCP standards. The HACCP standards must ensure that the entire production process of foodstuffs is carried out with the greatest possible care and with the least possible risk of contamination or spoilage.

The project at Kegge Garnalenhandel BV is a good example of different applications that together contribute to the improvement of efficiency and hygiene of production processes in the food industry.
