Pillen Group, based in Lichtenvoorde, is an all-in-one manufacturing partner to produce products and organize projects for any brand. Since 1956, they have specialized in metalworking, in addition to machining wood and plastic. Compressed air plays an essential role in daily production processes.
The question
Pillen Group's compressor room was outdated, causing energy costs to keep rising. Not only were the compressors in need of renewal, the compressor room itself also needed to be addressed. We were asked to help think of a total solution for the entire installation. Pillen Group is a 24/7 machine factory, which means that production must always be running. We not only had to deliver the new compressors, but also install them without bringing production to a halt.
The solution
Working with Pillen Group, we first created a plan of action to select the right compressors and how to achieve the desired goal. We delivered and installed 5 Alup compressors, in different locations within the plant. We also completely renovated the compressor room, where we had to set up the air duct correctly. Because the production process must not come to a standstill, we set up the compressors so that a backup could always be switched on. To prevent unnecessary leaks as much as possible, we installed an Air-Saver. The Air-Saver can be programmed so that it opens at the beginning of the working day and automatically disconnects the pressure vessel from the mains again at the end of the working day. Stored compressed air will no longer be unnecessarily lost through leaks.
The result
With the new compressors, Pillen Group has achieved energy savings of 10-25% compared to the old situation. Maintenance is done by Kuil Nicos, which allows for quick action in case of a breakdown. With these new compressors and associated software, the status of the compressors can be easily monitored remotely. All this to allow the production process to run as optimally as possible.
